FATIMA SELF HELP CENTRE

The ladies working in the Fatima Self-Help Centre have learned their wonderful sewing and embroidery skills by coming to the Centre and receiving skills training and ongoing education from the Sisters of Good Shepherd based in Pattaya, Thailand.  The ladies are paid a good and honest wage for their skills, so enabling them to supplement  their family's income.  By educating the mothers and providing employment, the Sisters hope to break the cycle of poverty for these women.  This is seen as an especially good employment option for young uneducated women at risk of exploitation.  The Centre also provides a Mothers and Babies Unit, a creche where the children of the employees are cared for while their mothers are at work, a residential program for teenage girls and a leadership program.
