YWCA of DHAKA

Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world, often at the mercy of severe weather patterns.  The YWCA of Dhaka was established in 1973 to support the work of local, vulnerable women, by providing skills training in sewing and embroidery.  The Centre has space to accommodate 100 women, with another 300 women being supported to produce their goods in their own homes.  The sewing work is a much better  alternative to the work of breaking bricks for road making.  The YWCA also provides the women with a compulsory 10% saving scheme, health and nutritional advice, legal advice, interest free loans, as well as teaching the ladies to read and write.  The YWCA of Dhaka is a member of the Ecota Forum of Bangladesh, which is recognised by IFAT.  Your purchase supports these wives, mothers and daughters to earn a living with dignity.
