Great oaks from tiny acorns grow.
That's the motto we chose to represent Us. It means we respect and appreciate that today's little ones will be tomorrow's adults who need to take responsibility for themselves and their world. Children need our help to grow and develop into the adults who have the capabilities to accept with enthusiasm the responsibilities coming to them. They are so open to our influence and receptive to the opportunities we provide them. That's a huge inspiration for us as adults to know more, do more, and do better.
Play is one of the most important needs children have (Australian Childhood Foundation). Play is a major life role for little ones, and it is through play that they learn much. Parents and adults have an important role in children's play. It allows interaction with children in a climate of fun and they are receptive to learning. At Generation Wonder we team things that kids would enjoy using, reading, playing with, and wearing, with a story worth learning about, and as they enjoy their gift in the spirit of fun, we hope that the learning follows. It will be our small contribution to these tiny acorns who will one day be great oaks.
Let's not forget the great gift our children give us. Australian Childhood Foundation says it best when they say:
Children give parents:
->Unconditional love and admiration just for being you
->Trust that you are the strongest, wisest and bravest person in the world
->The chance to be a hero
->The chance to be a child again through sharing in the magic and wonder of their emerging world
->The chance to experience an intensity of emotion and range of strengths and skills that may otherwise have remained hidden from you
->The chance to reflect on your own values, attitudes and assumptions about the world
->The chance to re-experience the joy and pleasure to be found in children's play
->The chance to share in their fun and their laughter
->The chance to revisit your own childhood
->The chance to take time out from being a grown up
One of the greatest gifts a parent can give themselves is time spent with their children - laughing, crying, playing, dreaming, exploring.
