Connection is such a great word. It speaks of understanding and empathy, reaching out, bonding, feeling and meaningful interactions.
We keep connection in mind with every story we add to the Generation Wonder range. It may be that it's a product that helps kids connect with the wonder of childhood, or something that helps parents connect with their kids, or something that connects us to our neighbours on the other side of the world.
I've always believed that children connecting with their history is important. This was reaffirmed loudly in an article I read in July 2007 Sydney's Child Magazine. The author wrote about growing up as foster child. She writes 'What I miss, though, is having somebody who remembers my life. You know, how you hear mothers say "You looked like a wombat when you were three" and "What about that time the neighbour's dog chased you up the apple tree?" I don't have anyone who's stored away my life like that.'
Connecting with their childhood is an exquisite gift caregivers can give their children as they emerge as adults to take their place in an adult world.
We've selected beautifully unique items for our keepsakes range, so you can keep safe special memories for the beautifully unique little citizens of the world in your care.
Importantly when we connect with something or someone, it changes our behaviour. Imagine how much our children can achieve if they connect with their environment, their peers, their culture, their wildlife, their family, their global family. The possibilities are exciting!
Write and tell us what connection means to you. By clicking on 'comment' below, you can add your thoughts...all welcome.
