More than 4,000 artisan families are supported by this Fair Trade organisation which protects the producer's interests against exploitation. ORUPA is a member of IFAT (International Federation of Alternative Trade).  Fair Trade practices allow sufficient lead times and prompt payment, allowing traditional skills and attention to detail to be showcased in each piece.  Much of the work comes from clusters of artisan villages, now being recognised and valued for their unique skills.  ORUPA supports the artisans to build productivity and quality management systems into their work, increase their access to global markets, and build loyalty and demand for their products.
